The School

Situated in the middle of the Murrigal bushlands in Victoria, Australia - Tallygarunga is a public school for young witches and wizards. It is run by the Victorian Government, and overseen by the Victorian Minister for Magical Education. The current headmaster is Alan Burdett, a graduate of Spencer house.

The school is largely for boarding students, most of whom will be Australian - though the school also caters to international transfer students. Students with parents who live in Narragyambie or nearby also have the option of attending the school as a day student, however - boarding is encouraged to give students ample time to bond and study together.

Students recieve their letter of acceptance at age ten, in their final year of primary education. Students may complete their primary education at a private magical primary school, at home, or at a muggle primary school. Students that do not enrol in a private wizarding academy (such as Penrose, or Greyheme) will be sent to Tallygarunga where the fees are cheaper and government subsidised. Many students choose to attend Tallygarunga of their own free will, for the variety of programs it offers. Tallygarunga is also recognised as the most species friendly school in Australia, accepting everything from Vampires to Were-Cats, Elves and all half-breeds in between.

The staff of Tallygarunga aim to provide an education above standard, struggling against government underfunding and manipulation, and of course - the soap opera nature of small town Narragyambie.
